Red face Oi-T Controlled Hyundai 180

We have a Hyudai 180 with the Oi-T controller. I would like to true up the boss that the chuck originally sat on. Can someone tell me how to enter a speed & get the spindle end of the lathe turning so I can handwheel slowly to true this boss up. This boss is .007 out or round while the piece it bolts to is dead on. Thank you.

Stevo,

I might be wrong, but I'm guessing you meant G97 (RPM), not G96 (SFM). The spindle might take off at some ungodly high RPM unless he has a tool offset active...

Dave….yes you are correct my apologizes. I usually use G96 however I have a G92 for max speed programmed right before it. And as always a lot of these safe settings I have long programmed them into macros and tool calls etc etc that way things like this are less likely to happen. Bad habits….anyway thank you for the correction.

I must be missing something. I keyed in G97S100M3 & when I press cycle start it clears out the code & nothing happens. I do have it in MDI mode.

Did you type in G97S100M3 and press EOB and INSERT? Then CYCLE START.

I tried that & it still didn't work. Our machine has been modified slightly & something in the controls may have been used for another function because it tells me the chuck is not closed & we don't have a chuck on the machine anymore.

There may be a proximity switch or two on the actuator that tells the control the chuck is open or closed. Check these. Also, there may be a OD/ID chucking switch. You might try changing this and actuating the foot pedal to see if the chuck clamp lamp illuminates.
