alarm 561 Fanuc OT

We have a 1993 Tsugami S16D lathe with Fanuc OT control. We are getting this alarm on start-up. ( 561 OVER TRAVEL : -6 )

Would like to have a OT manual if anybody has one.
Thanks for any help you can give.

This information is from the 0T-C parameter manual.

That alarm indicates the 6th axis has exceeded the - side of the stored stroke check 1 or 2. I'm not sure what the 6th axis is on a Tsugami S16D, but I believe you can check parameter #7130 to see what the name assigned to the 6th axis is.

Parameter #0065 bit 3 sets whether or not a stored stroke check is performed before reference position return operation (Zero Return) is performed. It may be as simple as changing this parameter from 0 to 1 or from 1 to 0.

Thank you dcoupar for the reply. parameter 7130 says 49. parameter 0065 says 0. It did not help changing it to 1. I also noticed some of our parameters do not match the paperwork with the machine, and some of them are flickering between 1 and 0. I was repairing the spindle locking pin air cylinder with the machine on. Maybe I was confusing the magnetic sensors and timers?
What would cause the parameters to change?
I am going home now. Hope to hear back tommorow.

Thanks Guys. This machine has no limit switches, just stroke limits.
I can still jog all "jogable" axis. Both the "T" axis are about in the middle of their strokes. Position #'s look good.

What will holding Cancel and P do to the control?
How do I do a reference return after Cancel and P?

P/Q Cancel overrides the stored stroke check (Software limits)

allowing you to reference the machine past the safe position stored in the parameters.

the error occurs sometimes if the machine moves with the power off and 'forgets' its position. Or if the encoders are removed and powered off

Thanks to everybody that responded to this thread. Who do I send money to? This site is great!

The alarm was because the "T2" axis (or the 6th axis) had fallen about
.2900" in the negative direction, the stored stroke is all in a positive direction. Just had to manuaully move axis to a positive position and hit the reset button.
