Need to output .txt not .dat format on floppy

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Hope to spend time every day here.

We have a 2007 Monarch 175B VMC with a Fanuc 15i-M controler I/O to a Fanuc Handy File that is storing files from the CNC as .dat instead of .txt . We have all the manuals on the CNC and Handy file but I cannot figure out how to get .txt format setup.

It uploads just fine, any help would be great !

Try this to output the current program:

Press the [PUNCH] soft key.
Press the ["FILE NAME] soft key
Key in TESTPROG.TXT
Press the [FILE NAME"] soft key
Press the [THIS PROGRAM] soft key

Or, to output O1234 as O1234.TXT

Press the [PUNCH] soft key.
Press the ["FILE NAME] soft key
Key in O1234.TXT
Press the [FILE NAME"] soft key
Press the [PROGRAM#] soft key
Key in 1234
Press the [EXEC] soft key

Let us know...

Thanks dcoupar,
I did exactly what you said and that did work, however , even though it did store it as .txt the file looks the same as before like a .dat file when opened. When i tried to copy and past it here, it was correct. It has those little squares, which is the begining of each new line. The program looks like a giant paragraph. Ha Ha
The CNC settings must be wrong somewhere, I guess, Ha Ha ! I'm all ears !

OH ! and dcoupar nice pic !!
Thanks

Par 0002 bit 2 and par 0000 bit 3 control the EOB characters when outputting.

LF (par 0002 bit 2 = 0 and par 0000 bit 3 = 1)
LF CR CR (par 0002 bit 2 = 0 and par 0000 bit 3 = 0)
CR LF (par 0002 bit 2 = 1)

See what yours is set for.

What are you using for an editor to open the file?

Thanks dcoupar !!
I will check those parameters !

Also this PC we're using has MS Word on it BUT it's only working in safe mode. I was using notepad and just tried Word and found this problem, didn't know Word was down.
So i tried opening it on another PC with a working copy of Word and it opened correctly.

I will reset the parameters you mentioned and update you on this today.

THANKS !!!!

That Fixed IT !!! THANKS !!

EIA 0000 #4 = 0 = ISO
NCR 0000 #3 = 1 = punch LF
CRF 0002 #2 = 1 = pnuch CR LF ( changed this one to 1 )

As long as we punch out programs with the .TXT it opens in NOTEPAD correctly !!

Thanks a Million dcoupar
