opto-isolators inside PMC?

Generally, opto-isolators are provided for input signals in commercial PLCs. The purpose is to isolate the external current/voltage from internal circuits. Do PMCs also have similar arrangements? I have a doubt because the connection manual recommends the use of internal +24V, available at pin B01 of CB104/105/106/107 connectors, as input signals. Use of external +24 V is not recommended. Or, have I interpreted it incorrectly?

You can get isolated and non-isolated input cards that are 9ma @ 24vdc, you can also get AC inputs 9mA at 100vac.
It all depends on what Fanuc model and I/O cards you are looking at.
Most of the models after the 10 had the option of remote PLC racks with fibre optic connection with differing types of I/O technology.

Thanks a lot for the information.

Can we also have TRIAC or relay outputs (instead of MOSFET outputs) as an option, so that we do not need to connect an external relay for switching AC devices? Of course, for heavy currents (say, > 2 A), external relays have to be used.

I guess there are slots in the input/output unit of the PMC for inserting optional cards, in all Fanuc models including 0i. Pl confirm.

If using a standard FET output card, I would just add a Opto22, P&B, Grayhill or similar make of SSR output expansion.
It all depends on whether you are ordering a new system or expanding an existing one.
