On my mori with a 6t control when I have the spindle speed up near max speed when it comes to an M5 it alarms out and kills the machine like an e-stop. The only way I can to get it to run is to step down the speed a couple of times before the M5. This is a program that has ran thousands of times with out a problem. The only thing different is that this machine has sat down for a couple of months. I would appericate any help. |

| Sounds like during the dynamic braking is the cause, check the motor com and brushes first. Al.

| First.. is this an ac or dc spindle? IF AC DO THIS check the alarm you are getting on the spindle drive.. i bet the fuse in the drive f7 or f4 i forget now is blown because the regen transistor is bad... check the alarm number on the spindle drive it should be either a series of 4 leds labeled 8421 OR you are going to have a display with 4 black buttons.. either way check that first.. and call fanuc they will fax you over the page out of the book to check the transistor.. if its a dc spindle its gonna be a little different. good luck |

All good suggestions, but a SL6 with a 6 will probably be a DC motor, and not likely a Fanuc spindle drive. They are pretty big machines. DC motors don't like to sit after running for 25 years. Carbon buildup from the brushes will start to settle. Take the brushes out of the motor and blow out the motor (wear a dust mask!). Then try it. If it still has a problem, you will need to post what drive unit it is (fuji XXX, whatever). I did a SL6 a few years back that had similar problems and had to send the drive for repair. Not saying it's the drive, if it was it should have blown the clear up fuses. Could be a impedance problem from the building, regen resistors if it has them, regen contactor if it has them. |

| It is a Mitsubishi dc drive. haven't had much trouble since I stepped down the speed before the m5. I beleive that the alarms that I had on the drive were a low voltage and overheat. The voltages going to the drive are fine. |
