| Hey Guys, I have a 1991 Fanuc OM on a Leblond Makino VMC. 40 taper, arm type 20 toolchanger, all fanuc red cap motors and AC spindle drive. The control is giving me problems and I would like to get a new, updated one that will possibly work w/ the fanuc motors. Talked to centroid and that was going to be way up in the $. Twice what I paid for the machine. Said I needed new motors and drives. Fanuc doesn't do upgrades either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. John |

| The 0 is not a bad little control, it may be worth spending some money bringing the exsisting control up to snuff, especially with AC motors. Al.

| You are my hero Al. I was hoping to get something w/ graphics, but looks like it isn't going to be worth the money. The MDI quit working first, now it won't accept a program from the laptop. I may need to wipe it out and reload. Do you know anything about this? I'm sure fanuc will do it, but that will require a trip to the bank! Thanks! |

| Is there no one local that could give it the once over? Is it a 0B or 0C, if so you should be able to see the ladder to see if the MDI is working, does it show MDI on the screen when the function switch is rotated? If not, it could be the switch. Bit #2 of P0060 displays the ladder. Al.

| I actually meant the titles? Do you see MDI appear on the screen? Al.

| My friend, dont change the 0m control. You have a good control, even if a little limited. There are several thing in your favor; you have Ac spindle drive unit, Ac servo motors, and the 0M cnc all very fixable. On the issues you are having with RS232 maybe you are not in the correct mode. I am familiar w/ makino ,tho' not with the ones with 0m control. Makino developed a lot of machines with no ladder but their own sequence, in software. The Makino machine is also a good tool in itself. I would fix up the 0M and get the most out of , like others have said. I am curious about the cnc which rev is it? Hope this helps. |

Well the Makino w/ the Fanuc OM mysteriously started accepting downloaded programs and the MDI is working. Didn't do anything or change anything. Now it won't change a tool. By program or MDI. It will turn the spindle on in MDI. Getting an 078 alarm. Book says "A program or sequence # which was specified by address P in the block which includes an M98,M99, or G66 was not found" Argh! Any ideas fellas? Thanks in advance! John |
