Problem with c10

Been trying to troubleshoot for the last couple days. Wondering if anyone has had similar problems? One of the batteries in the pack going to the RAM card was bad. From what I gather not having the batteries with the power off cleared the memory. Been trying to load parameters back on from a laptop to the port on the front of the CRT (RS232). This is from a floppy disk that has the parameters to upload. Followed all the instructions I found on how to set up to load parameters, etc. I'm not 100% that the laptop is actually communicating with the machine. Uploaded the parameters file in the NC-PARM folder. When I set up to load the SYSTEM.c10 file it keeps saying I/O not ready on the machine. I'm also getting a couple errors when turning on the machine. One is an overtravel error which I'm not too worried about. The other is error # SV026 Illegal Axis Arrange. The info I found on this is: Parameter #1023 for the servo axis arrangment was not set properly. No further info is available. Not sure what that means in terms of actually fixing that problem. Anyone with any experience in these problems?

Brian

Fanuc 10TF? That's what you're looking for? Using PROCOMM communication software from the floppy to communicate the NC

Fot the backup of that system you must have the NC parameters, PC parameters and programs. There is a series of steps that you must follow up to do it, are you using the manual to do that????

if this is a 10t you need to put the options in on the IPL screen..

then set up rs232.. if that doesn work just type them in by hand.. there isnt that many..
also hope you have the pc parameters written down.

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. Sorry for the delay, been doing this from work and I was off on the weekend.

Ok, so yes I am using the manual. Getting to the IPL screen was no problem. After Option 1-32 entered, everything comes on ok. Some alarms/errors immediately come up (Illegal Axis arrange, overtravel, etc). I'm assuming these are cleared when all parameters are in correctly. Then did INITIALIZING THE CONTROL UNIT TO LOAD NC/PC PARAMETERES. Loaded in all the parameters manually that I had a list of (KEEPRL, POS, COUNTR, TABLE CONTROL DATA, DATA TABLES, TIMERS). I'm guessing if I entered all those manually, the section LOADING IN THE NC PARAMETERS FROM THE PC TO THE MACHINE is kind of redundant, though I tried uploading them anyway from the floppy disk (via laptop) to the RS232 port using PROCOMM (option #4 in the upload protocol ASCII). It said uploading on the PC but I'm not actually sure it did. It didn't seem to change anything on the machine.

Next section is LOADING IN THE FAPT PARAMETERS FROM THE PC TO THE MACHINE. Tried it according to the steps in the manual, but I don't think it's actually uploading anything. It should be uploading the file on the floppy: A:\c10\FAPT\SYSTEM.C10 but I'm not even sure I'm actually communicating with the machine. Says "After a couple seconds the screen should flash 'Executing'". It doesn't do that at all. I don't have a list of these to enter manually.

I'm guessing I've gone wrong somewhere along these steps, though I'm not sure where to go from here.

Well Boogie here are the steps:

1. Press "-" and "." keys simultaneously and turn on the control without depressing them.
2. The control will turn on in IPL mode and erase all contents of the RAM.
3. Press "99" and then "input".
4. The control will ask for the number of axis (common lathe is usually is 2, VMC is 3).
5. Then you must enter the options in hexadecimal notation.
Option 1 correspond to parameter 9100.
Option 2 correspond to paraemter 9101.
and so on...
example: parameter 9100=11110001 this is bynary code, in hex it is F1. Then you must input "F1" in the option no. 1.
all params with 00000000 you can press just "input"
6. After you input all options then you must input parameters, pc parameters(timers, keep relays, counters and data).
7. Then input all programs.

Good luck.

GP.

Thanks for the info guys. I actually got it all fixed yesterday. The problem wasn't with the procedure. I wasn't actually communicating with the machine via the laptop for some reason. I asked the guys in the shop it was in and they had a dedicated computer for communicating measurements to the lathe. I tried the same procedure, and it uploaded the parameters fine this time. I'm still getting the LUB FAULT but it's apparantly a mechanical problem, blocked orifices. The pressure switch isn't dropping out occasionally like it's supposed to because of it, hence the fault.
