I was getting a 401 servo alarm on my 6m every time I would move the y axis, also on the y axis board TGLS was lit. First I checked the tach, found that the dc servo motor was covered in oil. Completely removed the entire y axis servo assembly and cleaned it(servo motor and tach with crc cleaner). while everything was apart I found that the rubber coupler attached to the pulse coder was bad (hanging on by a thread) and replaced that. I put everything back together and now I get 401 servo and 420 Y servo alarm, also the y axis motor does a complete 360 rotation before the alarms (no more TGLS). I am thinking that since I had everything apart I need to recalibrate the y axis so the machine can find its home position. Anyone know what parameters I should look at? This is on a 1984 Elox EDM. Thanks - Jay By the way, The tach is on the end of the servo motor and the pulse coder is attached to the motor by a belt. |

| If it is when you move the axis, it is usually the motor is drawing high current or tracking to ground. Try it with the armature DC disconnected, and move the HW slowly for that axis and if it does not alarm 401, it will eventually show following error, but you know at this stage it is the motor. Al.
