I think you don't need to set the position. The home position is defining by the switch. Controller sees when this switch being swithed and then looking for Zero signal from encoder. This sets up the machine zero.
If "machine zero" not there where you need, move your switch.
If "soft overtravel" alarm occurs, cancel soft limits in IPL mode and then home your axis.

The fact that when I use my MPG and get close to to where the machine home position is , I would expect the light to come on in x and Z.. ( confirming Home position ) So far I have not seen that.. Is it true then that if you remove a drive motor that you loose position of the home position ?? If not that im barking up the wrong tree.. Also what is the best Fanuc manual # for the 10t control that covers basic set and control operation of the 10T control. Im not looking for PAFT or Parameters, just a good manual that covers the function of the control

    Zero return

Yes, you loose zero when you remove the motors. Never use handle mode for Zero either. You should be able to just go to zero return mode and home it like normal. If the position is off to what you want, you adjust the grid shift parameter 1850 for the proper axis. Moving the switch would be a bad idea. The control will move towards Zero position, see the switch and slow down. Once the switch passes the dog and turns off, the control looks for the next marker pulse on the encoder. Then establishes zero by calculating the grid shift amount with the marker pulse. (fanuc guys, I know i simplified this somewhat)

OK grid shift is better than moving the switch

BTW, if you have homed once and later write in program G0X0Z0, then when your axes in home positions, LEDs doesn't light.

    Hey Guhl....long time no talk.

G0X0Z0 machine home can be anywere. G28U0W0 is best to use to get it back to reference position to see if the LED light comes on

Chips.....as previously stated when you remove your motor you will lose your home position. You can move the switch to get it close if you are way off and then fine tune with the gridshift parameter. Also remember you are probably going to want to reset your soft limit parameters for that axis.
