Tape Mode button (Do you have one?)

Hi.

My last thread was about trying to execute a program from a compact flash. I never did it, but I think I could not because my machine does not have a physical tape mode button. I have digged the PMC ladder and I think I can put a button on the controller.

My question is about the type of button (this is my 1st fanuc machine). When you press the button, the button stays down, and you need to press again to go up (2 position button), or the soon you press the button it will goes up right away (simillar to a key on the keyboard).
I do not want to kill the controller before it makes some money...

It takes only a minute to reply. Thank you.

Thank you.

Ok, I manage to add a the button, and checking with the ladder, the only one that would make logic was the type the would stick at the button. Making progress since, now I can see RMT instead of MEM on the LCD, this means REMOTE mode. Also the G0043.5 bit goes 1 on the diagnostics page, that seams ok.
Unfortunally I still cannot see the softkey DNC-CD softkeys. My procedure:

1) AUTO MODE
2) DNC MODE (button added, that works) (MEM changes to RMT on the lcd)
3) >
4) >

I have parameter 138.7 set to 1

Also in a very recent thread someone with a controller 21i-mB was able to reach those keys. Mine controller is 21i-A. I do not know the differences, but I hope that are not related with the DNC. If so I will paint a B instead of an A on the front pannel

Thanks

Red face

Well, I open and close my own thread.

The 21i-mA does not have the ability of DNC from the memory card. I have download the 21i-mB manual and it was clear that this controller have this ability. I will paint the B on the controller to have an upgrade and see what will happen, OR try with RS232.

Well, according to the Operator's Manual and the Parameter Manual, the 21i-MA CAN DNC from the memory card, but there is no reference to DNC from the card in the Descriptions manual. Go figure.

Issue solved. Now using DNC from serial port (drip feeding)... What a long walk I did.
