We lost communications with our 10T. The com port on the PC that we DNC from went out so we could not send to any machine. Once this was resolved we still have one machine that will not receive programs. With this machine we have been able to punch to hyper terminal, so the transmit seems to be working. Here are some things we have tried … -Swap cables, cable is good, it will send programs to other machines -checked parameters, went through and all looks good -checked for broken wires on the DB25 at the machine, checks good I am beginning to believe that the communications have fried on the main board. Searching over the net I have seen where the 1488 and 1489 chips go bad and can be replaced. Looking at the main board I have found several chips with 89 as the lat number but cannot find one with 88. Does anyone know which chips on a 10T controller work the RS232. If so where are they located? Any other suggestions on troubleshooting or repairing this issue would be appreciated. Thanks |

| There is usually two RS232 ports on the 10, one on the main board and one at the operator panel. If you send me a PM with an email address I can send the Fanuc RS232 manual. Al.

| This sounds like our recent problem. Al The Man's and other posts were very helpful in solving the problem. We have a 10M in a Victor Mill. On the mother board the following chips were about 5" from the input connector, SN75188N and SN75189AN and next to each other, but were hidden under a "T" section. We got new chips and soldered them in and celebrated. Our machine had a blank connector in the control consol that possibly could be a second RS232, but it was a blank. We do not think there is a second RS232 on the machine. We looked very carefully. |
