The Fanuc 6 does not have battery backup.
What is the master board part number?
Hey!
Ive been ghosting this site (whenever a machine breaks down) for about 8 years... My Ikegai FX20 (Fanuc 6) was spinning out parts in its usual flawless manner when it stopped in mid program. Long story short, the brushes were worn out on the servo. During the trouble shooting, the battery packs for the memory were accidently disconnected. After re-inputting the parameters everything came back to life nicely, except that manually inputting s40 turns the spindle at max RPM...kinda scary when you dont have the guards on. Im assuming something is "confused"... No alarm/s. Is there a Parameter reset im missing (0-36) or a param above 36 that got screwed up that would make this happen? Could it have a Gcode default that it wont let go of?

Questions.
1. which , make model spindle drive unit, AC or DC motor ?
2. FANUC 6TA or 6TB.?
3. I dont remeber batteries for axes on FANUC 6T ?
4. Generally there are no batteries on a fanuc 6, unless there is a non fanuc sequencer or the BMU memory has been replaced by an after market BMU repl.
5. Where did you load the parameters to, the CNC or sequencer?
Hmmm,
Its a 1978 Ikegai Fujitsu Fanuc FX20N 5T... My apologies! (biz owner posting vs. someone who knows...) My machinist thinks we may not have re-initialized the parameters properly, although they show as correct in the window when you review them. We trust the paramters that we inputted up to the 40s, but thats where our list runs out...Thanks for the replys, Ill try not to be so feeble posting my grief!
Thank You,
Bruce
F5T WILL HAVE DC SPINDLE , CONTROLLED BY ANALOG COMMAND.
NOW 5T WILL HAVE ONLY 0-99 FOR PARAMETERS.
I FORGET EXACTLY WHERE THE OPTION BIT WERE ON THIS CNC BUT FROM MEMORY I THINK THE FIRST 3- 5 ADDRESSES. SO CHECK THESE IN PARTICULAR.
Thanks for the reply!
We checked the Parameters against our cheat sheet again and they all matched up. Weve got the orignal manual (well earmarked) and the parameters vs. what they do decoder ring as well. We cant identify a param for the spindle in the first 40 blocks... Whenever we have to input params into a machine we sign and date the log. Looks like I did it back in 2003..same parameters. Our parameter chart doesnt have the params above the 40s listed...never had to input them. Weve been running the machine a lot since then with only the "usual" problems...Weve never lost the battery backed memory before though, and the traverse servo brush issue was tough (for us) to trouble shoot, so we may have done a lot of un necc power cycling and emergency stopping... No matter what you input for spindle speed in MDI it goes to full tilt rpm. No alarm, no nothing. creepy

johndeer,
Thank you for the reply. I checked tha params again and found 45, 49 and 50 to be different from our posted set, so I changed them to the "correct" values. Still no spindle speed control. You can input M3s40 into MDI and the spindle goes on at a constant speed, and it will reverse with an m4s40, but larger S numbers do not increase or decrease the spindle speed. Its not a full tilt like we thought though but running around 600rpm. We sure need to finish the job thats on it rght now... Argh

It was kinda late night when i checked the zone, i have a copy of the Fanuc 5 manual which gives a description of the parameters. i suspect that the parameters above 40 are used for pmc or sequencer values. this would explain the loss of control on sp. speed. i will get manual today and post later.
I have found a copy of parms. from FX20N, has those higher numbers in there.
I need a regular old email add as i wasnt able to attach these to the forum.
I will send as soon as I get an email add.
Johndeer,
You are the man! heres the addy: mfabricator@verizon.net
Sure hope this does it!
