    Trouble getting programs going

    Hi All clever people.
I have just installed a Ikegai AX20N lathe with a Fanuc 6T control systems. After a few glitches i seem to have it going well sort of.
I can't seem to get it to execute a program. I started with a simple one out of the manual just to start the spindle. After pressing the start on the numerical panel or cycle start nothing happens. Attached are some pic's of my setup. Oh the CRT picture the code that you can't really read says S 200 & M 03
Some help would go a long way
    Cheers Snow

are the axis homed/ reference returned?

Are you in MDI? If so don't forget EOB end of block.
If you push cycle start the cycle start light should come on and go off when the command is completed.
You might want to try and turn the CRT brightness pot down. It won't last that long otherwise.
New/old machine? Don't forget to SAVE all the parameters, if you do not have a hard copy.

not sure if it's the same

Can't put an EOB in MDI mode as far as I know.

Not sure if it's the same but on my turret punch I can't run a program in MDI. If I'm reading your entry correctly, you're trying a test program from the manual? You wouldn't do that in MDI. You'd program in Edit then change to auto/run.

What is your function switch set to, in the pic it is set to MDI this is to run a one line on a command by command basis, MEM is to run a program that is entered in memory via edit.

Try giving it a G97 to put it in direct spindle mode.

Just a quick question. How do you know that the code has been executed in the midi window when you press start. It's just when I press the start button nothing happened at all, no screen change to say it's been run no lights. How do you tell it's been loaded into memory ready to run?

You need to get out of MDI....

Turn the swith to EDIT, then input the code. Your first line needs to be a program number and the program zero point. Don't forget the EOB after each line. After you've entered the program switch to RUN or AUTO mode. Then hit start. MDI won't do crap for what you're trying to do- at least from what I can gather.

Also make sure a safety or other locking switch isn't activated somewhere.

I agree with Fanucman. It sounds like an interlock issue. I see you have a interlock on the control. Try canceling that or closing all the doors on the machine.

I don’t have a lot of experience on the 6 series control but you should not have to run in edit mode to complete this command. You can try as adamshive had suggested but it should make no difference. MDI is “manual data input”. This function is for exactly what you are trying to do as Al had already explained. A one shot command.

Does your punch use a Fanuc control? I have never seen a Fanuc control that did not require a EOB in a line of code. I however have never run a Fanuc on a punch.
