FANUC 10M, RS232 Zapped by Lightning, Revised Thank You Again GUHL for help on Fanuc 10M, EMG Display On (problem solved). After woking fine for 15 years a lightning strike zapped the RS232 on this Victor Mill 10M. An office PC was also damaged, not the one hooked to the Victor. In reading the forum archives, many have said the 10M has 2 ports, but trying to switch over has been unsucessful. The fanuc manual lists devices and then interfaces for RS232. The Fanuc manual lists 3 Input/Output interfaces, A(RS232C/20mA), B(RS232C/422) and C(RS232C). The settings screen on the CRT settings for: INPUT DEVICE = 2 (2~3:RS232C 11:ASR 13:RS422) OUTPUT DEVICE = 2 (2~3:RS232C 11:ASR 13:RS422) INPUT DEVICE = 3 -BG.EDIT- OUTPUT DEVICE = 3 -BG.EDIT- Parameter 5001 is for "I/O device No. to be connected to RS232C interface 1" Parameter 5002 is for "I/O device No. to be connected to RS232C interface 2" Parameter 5003 is for "I/O device No. to be connected to RS232C interface 3" The current RS232 in the door connects to a Honda 20 Female on the main board. Inside the operator panel is a Honda 20 Male connector labeled CM4, is this a RS232? Also can anybody help with the difference between devices and interfaces. Thanks to all. |
