Fanuc features

I've been told that all the fancy features that Fanuc charges for are already in the control and ready to go. You just pay to have them turned on. So does anyone know the tricks? I had a very sharp friend that was going to give me that info but lost contact with him.

It all varies by control series. You are also limited by the hardware that the MTB puts in. You may need to upgrade hardware to get a option to work. The 0 series you can change your option bits to activate options. I don't know much about the 3,5,6 series on entering options. With the 10,11,12 you have to go through the IPL mode and change them in hexadecimal format. The 15,16,18,21 older series requires a set of 3 passwords through the IPL mode to change them. The newer series controls from what I have heard have a constantly changing password that requires a tech to come in and change.

This is just by experience. I am sure I am missing some facts.

What series control are you referring too. I can tell you that some tampering with the control without the passwords or proper sequence could lead to a machine Lock Up. Then you have to call Fanuc to have them come in to fix the problem.

What are you looking to do, maybe you can write a Macro instead.

Some of this information is incorrect. There are a few controls(newer iB,some European 15a) that require a password to enter (or change) options.
Some options are "basic" for some but not all software versions, some may require additional hardware and /or options. I treat every request for info individually and only charge for hardware.
Call me M-F 9-5 Eastern Time.
