You can send them to a PC through the serial port. First, make or buy a serial cable. When you buy one, look for a "9-to-25 NUL MODEM" cable. If you make one, here are the pinouts.

25-pin male ----- 9 pin female
pin 1 ---- cable shield
pin 2 --------------------- pin 2
pin 3 --------------------- pin 3
pin 5 --------------------- pin 7
pin 7 --------------------- pin 5
pin 6 ---
pin 8 --- <-- jumper these 3 pins together
pin 20 --

Next, be sure that the serial port settings in the CNC match your communications software on the computer. Here are some recommended settings:

First parameter page:
TVON = 0
ISO = 1
I/O = 0

Parameter 002:

1 x x x x x x 1 (bits marked "x" can be either 1 or 0 -don't change them)

Parameter 552:

10 (4800 baud)

Any computer you use will probably have a COM1 port with a 9-pin male serial port, which will fit the 9-pin end of the 9-25 cable described above. If it's a newer laptop or a very new desktop, you may not even have a serial port on the PC and you'll have to get a USB serial adapter instead. DO NOT use the 25-pin female plug on the PC because that's a parallel printer port, not a serial port.

You can use almost any serial communications software on the PC, but whichever one you use will need to be set to match the CNC, which is 4800 baud, 2 stop-bits, 7 data bits, Even parity ASCII.

If you need software, go to our website and download PC-DNC Editor. The link is

http://www.sub-soft.com/download/Edi...itor_3.5.3.exe

You don't have to buy the editor because it will run for 30-days as a demo anyway. When you load it on your PC, there will be a desktop icon for "PC-DNC Editor". Launch the Editor, go to the "I/O" menu and select "Configure IO device". Set the baudrate to 4800, and the stop-bits setting to "2", then click APPLY. All the other settings should be OK for the Fanuc. Beware that if you use a USB-to-serial adapter, you may not be using COM1. You'll have to set the Editor to use the serial port that is assigned to the USB device, which you can get from the Windows Device Manager. It may be COM3 or COM5 instead of COM1.

To send the parameter to the PC, click "I/O" then "Receive file" on the Editor, then go to the CNC and select the parameter page. Most 0-A controls do not have the soft-function keys, so put the the CNC into EDIT mode, then press the letter "P", then a minus sign (-), then "9999", then OUTPUT/START. The editor on the PC should show the bytes received on the bottom of the display, and when the parameters are all sent, they should pop up on the screen. After they're received, click "File/Save As" and save the parameters with any file name you choose.

If you need help with PC-DNC Editor, contact Roger Bonnet at Shera Bonnet and Associates (Sydney). He's our guy in Australia. His email is rb@shera.com.au
