| Have you looked at the electrical drawings? Even if your machine doesn't have "spare" M-codes I've found a couple of instances where there were unused M-codes (like door close and door open) that could be used for firing an indexer. |

| I assume you are talking a separate programmed indexer? If this is a stand alone such as SMW etc, one way is to program a program stop and then index the positioner and then cycle start to continue. I recently integrated one with a 10M, but had to modify the ladder to index by M command. Al.

I agree with dcoupar ... most newer machines have extra M codes just for instances like this so when the service tech comes out for a "common" option the job is easier. Check out the wiring diagram and look for M codes circuits ... once you find M codes that you don't usually use or even knew existed ... look for corresponding wire numbers in the cabinet. Also, using MDI, input the M code. The cycle start light should come on ... if someone stands in the back near the electrical cabinet ... you might even be lucky enough to hear the relay click. If that's the case, you're in real luck and the hardware is already there. You can also trace the wires for the FIN (finish) signal ... jump them together and the cycle start should go out. If memory serves correctly ... some M codes do not require a FIN signal ... this is the type you do not want ... you don't want the program to proceed unless the indexer is completed. Good luck.
