Connection of Fanuc CNC and LAN

Are there any devices except Data Server which could be used for connection of CNC to LAN. I mean that Data Server is too expensive and I am looking for something more affordable.

I 've heard that there is ethernet board and PCMCIA card with RJ-45 for such tasks.

Has anyone tried to do that? Was it possible to perform DNC?

on 0i-MC it is not possible to make DNC trough ethernet card without data server, maybe for security reasons.

But there is DNC through RS232 isn't it?

I really do not know the reason. With "Basic operation package" for example one can do many more dangerous things than DNC, but ... DNC trough Ethernet is not allowed. One reason can be that you need bigger memory buffer for Ethernet, which is available ... in data server. Anyway, just only ethernet port can be used for all kind of data transmission, for fapt ladder use, for servo guide etc., but not dnc.

Maybe I misunderstood terms. I need to start the programm remotely, restart it, monitor machine status, and maybe do some reports about machine work, whole shop work, tool breakage, etc.

I suppose that there should be some hardware, software (both on PC and CNC).

The ideal option is lots of machines with Data Servers and FOCAS. But it is not affordable. So I'd like to know what are the other options.

I had to do this on a machine that was cutting plastic explosives. They wanted to operate the machine from another building for some reason.

I connected a cycle start, feed hold and e-stop into the hard wiring. The machine status can be set up using outputs from the ladder.
