it seems you are a fanuc specialist. I am just a user. i have the problem where the specific machine does not have a dnc or tape function on the control panel at all. i do understand that the internal hardware and software should be similar for all OM controls of that decade. so my question i have: is there a manner by which one can configure the machine to be dnc compliant? please advise. |

| The Fanuc 0M control originally did not have any TAPE mode or DNC capability. It had a serial port, and all you could do is upload and download to CNC memory using EDIT mode. The tape readers provided with these controls were RS232 tape readers, and no BTR connection was possible because all you could do is put the control into EDIT mode and read a paper tape into memory. Later, the 0M-B control came out, and it had an input called "DNCI" (DNC INPUT). This bit was accessible to whoever was programming the ladder, so SOME machine builders put a DNC or TAPE mode on the mode select switch, which would (through the ladder) turn on this DNCI input. If no provision was made in the ladder to turn on DNCI, then you can't run in DNC mode, but you do have the option of hiring someone who can edit your ladder to add the capability. 0M-C models and later were pretty much like the B model. They had the DNCI bit on the interface, and MOST machine builders had either a TAPE or DNC mode on the mode select switch, or maybe a PC paramter that could be set to turn on the DNCI bit. Bottom line is this: If it's a 0M (not a 0M-B or 0M-C) then you're out of luck. If it's a "B" or "C" model, you may have the option of editing your ladder to make it work. Look at your yellow Fanuc manuals to see if they're "0M" or "0M Model B" or "0M Model C". |

The Leadwell machines did not use a Tape or DNC switch setting. They used a diagnostic bit to switch you between Memory mode and DNC mode. You can contact Campat Machine in TX for the proper diagnostic bit to set. They are the importer for this machine. I'm afraid I don't have the information with me. The telephone number is 800-450-4120. Once the machine has been set for DNC mode you simply place the mode select switch into Memory and press cycle start. The machine will look to the RS232 port for the program. |
