We have a Hamai MC-3VA vertical mill with a Fanuc 0-MC controller. We can move all the axis in jog mode, handle mode, zero return but when we push the spindle start button we get nothing from the spindle. I have tried M3 and M4 to turn it on but again no reponse. We have no alarms or errors on the controller. Please help!!

Have you tried programing it on in MDI (M3 S500). could be just it dosnt turn on in certian modes (handle, jog, edit?)
im sorry. i just reread your post and gave you relly stupid info that you have already tried...could be your ATC? is it in locked position? my turret (shizoka) needs an "address memory" wich it references itself, when i forget to do this in the mornings my spindle wont do a thing...no alarms anything!
luck!
The road to hell is paved with good intentions
could be as simple as the door interlock switch
is the door open or shut when this happens?
is there an m-code to change from low to high gear?
Venomgrrrl,
Your info was not stupid at all. Alot of times its the simple things that are overlooked and cause us the problems. I have seen on many occasions people wondering why there spindle won't turn on when they program a M3 or M4 not realizing a lot of the times you have to have a modal S for it to work.
Kard only said M3 M4 no S so I think it is a very valid point
