Smile Problem with Fanuc 11M Bubble memory initialization

    Hello your help is needed.

Problem in initializing Bubble memory with Fanuc 11m,
Due to frequent BUS ERROR and intermittent stop of the machine while running I cleared memory by pressing 7 and 9 button while switch on.
    After this, following screen Displayed.

    ROM TEST: END
    RAM TEST:END
    BUBBLE INITIALISE:END
    BUBBLE TYPE:03
    BUBBLE PREPERATION :ERROR
    0014 E180 0000
    IPL
    1.DUMP MEMORY
    2-
    3.CLEAR FILE
    4.BUBBLE
    5.-
    6END IPL

I tried to do several time BUBBLE initialize by pressing 4 followed by 2 (for initialize). It ask for Defect Loop Number?

(I hade selected free mode switch to service mode in Master PCB)

To check the Defect loop Number in IPL MODE, if I press 4 followed by 3(display defect loop) it gives following display.

    BLOCK#:1A
READ MAP : TOO MANY DEFECT LOOPS.
    Or
    Some time it display
    NOT READY.
Due to this, initializing not taking place. Also I am not able to put the option parameters. And other parameters.

I request is any other method for initialize bubble memory……..? or this could be hardware problem…..?

Please help to resolve the problem.

    Thanks in advance…
    Dinesh

If you are doing all the procedure as per the book, maybe the bubble memory PC is bad. If you have the chance to get another try to test it that way.

Are we talking about the A87L-0001-xxxx type BMU boards?

I have had errors like this one before.

tou may have to reformat the BMU .Defect loop data is on the BMU itself.

Ok, Bill, I'll have to try that next time I encounter this problem.

I have seen several of these modules on eBay. I would like to upgrade my 11M sometime and would like to know which part numbers to look for and what they are.

    Call Tulip Electronics
    905-854-6668
They manufacture replacement boards for the Bubble Memory.
    Much cheaper than Fanuc.

In our Moriseki SL3B machine equipped with FANUC 11 TE Control we have noticed the following screen in the CRT while switching on the machine.

    FS11T9A 220D

    ROM TEST : END

    RAM TEST : END

    BUBBLE INITIALIZE : ERROR

    0002 0000 03FF

    BUBBLE TYPE :04
    BUBBLE PREPARATION : NOT READY

    IN IPL MODE

    1. DUMP MEMORY

    2.

    3.CLEAR FILE

    4.BUBBLE

    5.--

    6. END IPL

Kindly suggest /send suitable remedial measures / procedure to clear the fault .Kindly note our machine is idle at present.

    One of these 3 possibilities:
1: powers supply voltages; +5V must be at least 4.75V
2: bad BMU (re-initialise and/or replace); all memory is lost; see maintenance about how to re-initialise
    3: bad motherboard
    #2 is the most likely.

The bubble board is bad; you will have to replace it and load all data back in. I hope that you have a good backup.

Anytime I see that screen, Ive had to reload all the parameters. Fortunately, I have a good back. I have 2 machines with the 11M. Happens about every other year or so. If you dont know what your doing though, Id pay someone whose qualified. It can effect your options on the machine too, which is another reason to hire someone. It will take less than hour.
