FS-0MA does not indicate comments in the program even if the comments exist in the original program generated on the PC. Maybe Dan Fritz or f-bu can comment if there is a way to make FS-0MA to display comments. |

| Some communications programs can be set up to strip out comments, but I'm pretty sure that the 0M-A and 0T-A controls strip them out anyway. The 0M-B and 0T-B controls could accept comments. I suppose that Fanuc decided to do this to save memory. Space characters are stripped out on almost all Fanuc models to save memory. The spaces appear on the screen, but they're generated by the display software in the control. When you punch out the programs, the spaces are gone. |

| Thanks f-bu and Dan for your replies. The other nasty thing about this control is that the pc parameters cannot be punched out but reading in is working correctly. Seems that the solution would be to manipulate the CNC software but who is capable? |

| We had a 1988 fanuc OTA lathe. This stripped out the comments in paranthesis when rs232ing in a program so you got ; ; ; on the screen where you had say tool comments. I spoke at length with both GE Fanuc and Fanuc UK who both looked into it and even contacted Japan. Nothing could be done to allow our control to read them, except 'upgrade to OTB'. HTH |
