memory space

hello, my first thread, does anyone know if it is possible to open up more space in the memory of a fanuc 18i control by opening up a parameter. The memory space currently is only small, trying to get round having to take programs out all the time.

Does your control have a data server installed? If so you can install up to 2GB with it. In the back of the monitor there is a board with CF card in a PCMCIA adapter that you can replace. Then what you can do is keep your programs on the data server and pull them into the memory as you need them.

The only other way that I know of is to buy the expanded memory from FANUC.

How old is your control? I assume it is a 18i turning center? I cannot remember when exactly Fanuc changed the procedure of changing options. I believe about 1-2yrs ago. If it is a newer control you have no choice but to have Fanuc add more memory to your machine. You should be able to locate the year of the control in the power cabinet.
