Need some advice please on how to use the edit functions on a Fanuc series Oi-MC controller fitted to a Dahlih milling machine. I know how to do basic editing but would also like to know how to delete large sections of information (all i can do at the moment is delete block by block which takes forever) and if theres anyway of copying and pasting sections of the program? When i go into 'edit' mode and then press the 'Ex-Edt' soft key i am then presented with the following series of soft keys which i am guessing that when used correctly will allow me to do what i have mentioned above:-'Copy' 'Move' 'Merge' 'Change'. When i select 'Copy' 'Move' or 'Merge' i get the following series of soft keys:- 'CRSL~' '~CRSL' '~BTTM' 'ALL'. When i select 'Change' i get the following soft key:- 'BEFORE' I have played about trying to figure out how to use them but with no luck so far, please help me. |

If I reccomember right, if you select "move", then the ~CRS... menu come up. One of those means "this is the bottom of the section to select" the other means "this is the top of the section to select". The last means "from here to the end of the program" After you use ~CRSL, move the cursor to the end of what you need to select, then you can move (cut/paste) the section to either another part of the program, or to another program altogether. Merge can bring that other program in from that export. Hope this helps. It's been 10 years since I had to use advanced editing. |

| Hi, i tried this out today, thanks for the advice the deleting technique worked fine, and like you said the CRS~ and ~CRS are the start and finish points but all i can manage to do at the moment is copy all the information between my start and finish point and then enter this into a new file (as its own seperate program.) What i would like to be able to do is copy specific sections of one program and then add them into another one . Any idea how to do this? Would be really useful if i could do this myself on the machine as the programmers where i work are so busy with new work at the moment that they dont always have time to alter existing programmes as and when i need them to. |

| In EX-EDT, press [COPY]. Move the cursor to the start of the section you want to copy, and press [CRSR~] Move the cursor to the end of the section, and press [~CRSR] Press [EXEC] - this places the selection in O0000. Key in the number of the program you want to insert the selection into, i.e.: 1234, and press [O-SRH]. Cursor to where you want to insert the selection. In EX-EDT, press MERGE, then [~CRSR], then [EXEC] |

| Thankyou, i shall try this next week....... i'll let you know how i get on! Just out of interest what would the [CHANGE], [BEFORE], and [ALL] soft keys be used for? My guess is that [ALL] would be used to copy the entire program rather than having to select a start and finish point? Last edited by cossiegaz; 01-09-2009 at 09:03 AM. |

| Let's say you wanted to change all the F20. feedrates to F10. Press [CHANGE], type F20., press [BEFORE], type F10., press [AFTER], then press [EXEC] To replace only some of them, use [1-EXEC] and [SKIP] instead of [EXEC] |
