First off would like to say thank you and Merry CHristmass to all you brainaicks.....thanks for all your help....I have been having problems with rs232 on my machine have ruled out the cable and the pc , or parameters....All that is left is a bad port on machine dose anyone know what chips on the main board would have to be replaced to fix this ......all I can get is a 086 interface error ....As soon as I hit the read key......

There can be two ports on the 0, maybe swap over to the other one for a test?

Are you sure that pins 6, 8 and 20 are jumped together on the CNC end? Have you checked them with an ohmmeter to verify this?

Yes have checked the cable .......this is not the problem.......have tried to configs.....

If you PM me your email address I can send the RS232 manual.
There are normally two RS232 connectors, one on the MB and the other on the Operator panel.
I cannot remember if the common 1488 1489 ics are used on the 0. If you find IC's with these numbers on, this is the RS232 send/recievers.
