| OK... what is the difference between them? How do you know which parameters are optional, come with your machine, and are turned on? Assuming you have no information, papers or books to tell you. I tried the dealer, and they were no help even with the ser #. They didn't go back that far. ![]() I purchased the correct general Fanuc control manual ..eck!! Way to much info about everything the control could be on and do. I'm still trying to sort that out! Thank God G code is still G code! The problem, as I see it, is to figure out WHAT G codes are usable and apply to my machine. I would hate to spend a whole bunch of time trying different G and M codes just to see what is on and works. I found two companies that list the same machine as I have on their equipment list even the same year, e-mailed them but no retured e-mail (thank you very much!!) Maybe next I'll call them and get hungup on - ![]() BTY the machine is a AKIRA SEIKI ASL-17 lathe with a Oi T Fanuc control, 1997. Steve - feeling very old.... |

| Steve: The "i" letter is for integrated, that means that the CNC computer is located in the back of the screen in a very small arrangement of PCB's (memory, cpu, axis, etc.), the 0i's are newer that the 0 versions without the "i" letter. In 0i controls you have a very different platform for parameters and screens, you have the option of the PCCARD to load or download porgrams, etc. to me it is easier to work with parameters in a 0i. The optional parameters are sold by Fanuc when you need it, on 0 contros are 900's and the function is "secret" to the user. That way they can sell it...If you find that a G code is not available in the control then you'll have to call Fanuc to buy that option, of course the most common (G00, G01...) are open. I hope this helps a little. Greg. |

| ...I hope to have the wiring finished this weekend and maybe fire the machine up for the first time. I can then start understanding what options and such I have on this machine control. I've never used a Fanuc control, just Haas lathes and Mazaks, it should be interesting. Comments on anything I should be learning about a 1997 era Fanuc Oi T control is helpful. ![]() Steve |

Still wiring I had to find a step down transformer (240 to 208) I did finally. I also have been working on some other projects one refurbishing a Fadal mill which is going well so far. However any information, start up and service manuals about the AKIRA SEIKI ASL-17 lathe 1997 or around that age, specially would be helpful. Steve |
