Program numbers 8000-8999 and 9000-9999 can be protected.

Check parameter #3201 bit 0 (NE8) and bit 4 (NE9). If they are 1, then the programs with those numbers are protected. Also check bit 6 (PSR). If it's 0, then then searching for a protected program is disabled.

I recommend Predator DNC, available from www.predator-software.com

You have to change to parameter write enable. This screen is the second screen off your offset hard key. It should be the first line at the top that says
Parameter write enable=1(on, off)
You must set this so you can change your parameters. You will get a parameter write enable alarm telling you that your parameters now can be changed. Now you can go to the Service area were your parameters are. If you type 3201 and press NO.search it will take you to parameter 3201. You can now hightlight bit 0 and change it and then highlight bit 4 and change it. Bits run from right to left 0-7 (76543210). This is to unlock your 8000 and 9000 programs. There is nothing wrong with unlocking these to change them if needed as long as you know what you are doing and have the orginals backedup. This lock function is typically because a lot of the important macros like tool change, auto tool offset, main machining, ect are there and you don't want anyone making changes to those. It also blocks these programs from being accidently deleted. You can change bit 6 to allowing searching and viewing of these programs once they are locked.

Make sure you go back and deactivate parameter write enable. All of the above must be done in MDI mode.

Your best bet is to go through and backup everything. Parameters, programs, offsets, PMC ect. You also have to keep in mind when doing program backups that if you have the 8000 and 9000 programs locked they will not punch out of the control when doing a backup.

I have attached the settings for the 18M. These should be the same as the 18t.

I use Dostek for my DNC. They are pretty cheap and good service.

Here is the pin out that I use. I use the RJ45 jacks which are at radio shack. Just plug the labeled color in the proper outlit. I run LAN line between. You can not use the printer port for communication.

Press your offset/settings key. This brings you to the screen with the Parameter write enable and I/O ect. You have to change your I/O channel. This is telling the machine which input output channel to use.
