Loading programs in a Fanuc 10M

I'm new to this machine, and I'm trying to set up a lap top pc to send and recieve progs with a usb-serial connecter. Is this even possible? I keep getting the alarm SR820 DR OFF (1). I can't find this in the only book we have, which is for the 15M.

Can anyone help?!?

Thanks,

Chappyd

Buy me a Beer?

You need to jumper out the hardware handshake pins on the 25 pin D connector on the 10.
4-5 6-8-20 no other wires connected to these.

Jumper out the 10. 10M control I assume.

jumper on the 4 to the 5 pin

on 6-8-20, no wires connected. Is this correct?

Sorry to be such a noob

The connections on here are for the 0 but the 25D is the same.
Have you uploaded programs before with a standard RS232 cable & PC?
Use Null modem.

Thanks very much Al. I'm also using, should have said so at 1st, a 9 pin to 25 pin adapter, it's the only one I could find. Looking over your pdf file, I can make my own to match the 9 --->25 pin and match them up.

I have used a pc to load programs, but I haven't had to set up the system before. My last job had a pretty good set up, and I just had to change some settings on the pc to get it to communicate. I started a new job, and the new place is VERY backwards compared to everything else I have seen. I've been programming about 4 years now, and started with mastercam 9, and now we use X3. The other programmer they have here is using mastercam 4, and everything is set up in DOS. Part of my job is to try to bring our programming up to speed and create a presentable engineering dept. We don't even have a server here to store stuff on. We are moving to a new building within the next 6 months, and buying some new machines as well, but for now I have to make due with what we have, including some rather old machines.

Thanks very much for your help.

Chappyd

If you think you need the RS232 manual for the 10, send me an email add. via PM.
