Hi. I have a Tsugami lathe with a Fanuc 6T-A controller. I've recently got it up and running but having some problem. When I upload a program from my pc to the machine, the first ten lines or so disappears including program number and comments. I've set the DNC to first send a % and then a "LF" and at the end of the program a % according to the manual that went with the machine. Temporary I've added ten extra lines at the start of the program, before the programnumber but i get some random alarms. Does anyone recognise this problem? Grateful for any suggestions |

| Some 6T-A controllers did not come with an RS232 port, so I'm wondering if yours has a BTR (Behind the Tape Reader) board installed. Where does the serial cable from your PC connect to the CNC? Do you have a 25-pin female serial plug on the outside of the control, under the little "flapper door" ? If the cable goes to that plug, then you're using the "native" serial port on the CNC. If the cable goes inside the cabinet to what looks like a non-Fanuc circuit board, then you probably have a BTR installed, which might be the source of your problem. Also, try to find out the CNC's software series and version number. If the CNC has a CRT display turn the control on for a few minutes, then turn it off, then back on. The second time you turn it on, the CRT will already be warmed-up, so you should see the software version number (992, 994, or some similar number) and the version number. If the control has the old style LED display instead of a CRT, the software series and version numbers are displayed on the LED panel for a few seconds after power up. Very old software in the 6T-A may be the problem here. Please post your software series & version info and I'll see just how old it is. |

| On the Eproms and the CRT screen it says Series 992, version 08 (or an H on the eproms), the machine is built in 1983 or so. The cable goes inside the cabinet and is connected with a Honda plug to the first board on the right side that sits 90 degrees angled from the main board, at this time I can't remember the label on the board or the connection. The settings I'm using is: 4800 baud, even parity, 7 databit, 1 stop bit and CTS/RTS handshake. To upload a program I set the PC to send and it waits untill I press read on the machine. Downloding from the machine to the PC is working good, but before the first % sign and after the last % it types an "I" why I don't know. |

| Please check parameters 24, 25, and 26 on the Fanuc. Parameter 24, bit 0 (the bit on the far right) must be a "0" if you're using 1 stop-bit on the computer. Parameter 25 should be 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 for 4800 baud Parameter 26, bit 7 (the bit on the far left) should be a "0" so the control will send Xon/Xoff signals. Your DNC software should be sending at 4800 baud, 1 stop-bit, 7 data bits, Even parity. It should also be using Xon/Xoff handshaking (NOT RTS/CTS handshaking) Good luck! |
