Need Help!- drip feed issues

I am running a Anderson EXXACT 51/ran with a fanuc 18i controller. I am unable to drip feed any programs no matter how big or small they might be. I have good communication on any programs that will fit into the controller. I now have programs that exceed the controllers memory. I have x-on and x-off handshake inabled, and I have also adjusted the buffer flow control to its lowest point. The controller is not sending the x off comand back to my computer before the controllers buffer gets full so I get a 087 buffer overflow alarm every time. When I come back into my computer, it is still sending data to the controller. I have tried many different configurations and nothing seems to work. Please help! Thanks Bill

You're not running a laptow with a USB to RS-232 adapter, are you?

How long is your cable? Is it shielded?

Check Fanuc parameter 102. It should be 0.

Turn of your FIFO buffers in Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports

I am not running a laptop, just a regular pc w/ xp.
parameter 102 is set to 0
My cable setup was done by tech from anderson in 2002 and has not changed, I believe it is a 9pin from the computer to a 21 pin at the cnc.
I also believe it to be a shielded cable approx. 50ft long
