During a tool change (1st tool dropped, indexed, 2nd tool engaged in spindle) I got this alarm and a buzzer went off in the PLC box.
1024 ATC Cycle Error
1005 ATC not ready
The tool is locked in the spindle, but the tool changer did not move back.
I believe I remember this happening before and we had to jog the tool changer back and forth to get it in the right spot again.
Where do I start?
Fanuc Series O-M running Supermax Rebel Mill w/ 20 tool changer.
Up on top of the ATC is a motor that drives the cam. Take the cover box off, and you should see a "bail" (looks like a paint can handle, maybe?). Lift the bail to release the ATC brake, and you should be able to spin the fan to move the arm back to it's home position. Don't forget to apply the brake again after you're done.
I looked at the smaller motor directly on the tool changer and found nothing under the cover.
There is a larger motor that moves the changer forward and back. Is it this one?
If I remember correctly there is a switch in the control box where I can shuttle the changer back and forth manually (to and from spindle).
Is the changer in the wrong fore/aft position, or is it rotationally wrong? I don't under stand why it stopped.
Could it simply be chips/debris on a postion sensor?
My bad. It appears as if you have an "umbrella" style tool changer as opposed to a dual-arm changer. I hadn't seen that style on a Rebel. Sorry for the wild goose chase.

cant get my toolchanger arm to return back, i looked inside my supermax max 1 and there is no bail and spinning the motor did nothing... hope someone can help me thru this one...

on my machine I ended up actuating the solenoid in the main power cabinet.
got thru the error finally now i need to get my toolchange macro to read past the tool call in the program if its the same tool in the spindle.
There is a few ways that you can do that. If the MTB used a system variable to track the tool in the spindle then you can use it in the macro. If they did not then you can set a common variable up to do the same thing. I cut the program that I posted for you in the other forum.
Now if the MTB does not have a system variable we are going to use variable #500. Make sure that your machine does not use this variable for anything. If it does select another variable to use. Just make sure that it is 500 or above because these are the permanent common variables so they hold their value even if the power is turned off. First manually set #500 to what the current tool is in the spindle thru MDI mode.

IF[#500EQ#4120]GOTO1—(checks to see if current tool is set to tool being called jumps to N1 if it is the same tool)
#3=#4003—(sets #3 equal to modal G90 or G91)

This should work for you if you have macroB programming in the control.
