| The only Open CNC I am aware of refers to the open architecture of CNC control, i.e. usually PC based controllers that do not have proprietary software and is open for anyone to modify? Al.

| "Al the Man"'s description is true for generic CNCs. In the case of Fanuc controls, open CNC is basically a MS Windows based CNC controller with Fanuc proprietary CNC hardware. The word "open" here simply means machine builder and user can install 3rd party Windows softwares. Fanuc open CNCs can be identify with their numbers. For example, open CNC version of Fanuc 16/18 control is Fanuc 160/180, Fanuc 15 open CNC version is Fanuc 150. They do not make open CNC version of Fanuc 0. Here's more information on Fanuc website: http://www.fanuc.co.jp/en/product/cn...c/opencnc.html |
