Question Fanuc 11M Fault Code SR 820 DR OFF (1)

SR 820 is not listed in the manual. SR 830 is. I assume that SR 820 pertains to RS232 port 1. I've read the postings that detail the fixes for the SR 830 faults. I reassigned 0020 and 0021 to 2. 5001=1 5110=5, 5111=1, 5112=8. I now have no fault codes. If I unplug the cable I get SR 830.This appears normal. Pressing read and all ,makes the screen flash read, again this appears normal. My problem is when I send from the PC, the program never appears on the CNC. Did I miss a setting????

Can you send from the CNC to the PC? If so, do that first. This should tell you if your cable is wired ok. Then send the same program back to the CNC. I'd set 5001 & 5002 to 3 instead of 1 (feed is not punched).

THANKS FOR THE IDEAS. I'll try the dummy plug first, to see if it will clear the faults. Then I'll try changing 5001,5002 to 3. Am I correct in my thinking that port 2 should work too. This thing was working on the existing setup. It hasn't been used for a while because of another mechanical issue which has been resolved.I'll try this Monday when I get back to work. Thanks again. No luck.I built a new cable, and a test plug. The test plug works on RS 232(2). Not on RS 232(1). If I change foreground input to 2,I get RS 232(2) the test plug works, and I get SR 830 DR OFF(2) if I remove it. I can press READ and ALL and cause READ to flash, when foreground input is set to 2. 5001 set to 1 or 2 doesn't help. Are 5120,5121,5122 active? Do they need to be turned on. 5110,5111,5112 have descriptors next to them,is this an indication that they are enabled? I'll be grateful for any input. WEMR449

better day today. We have another machine that would load. The RS232 port on this machine is located on the CRT enclosure, and plugs into a board there. The other machine the port is on the door, under the tape loader.I moved the cable and plug assembly to the CRT enclosure plug and that took care of the fault on port(1).The CNC is now loading. Thanks for the help.
