Need experienced input on buying a new machine.

This might be the wrong place to ask this question.

We are looking for a Twin spindle lathe with Y axis with 3." bar capacity on the main and the sub also with live tooling.

This machine will be used for high production runs. We currently have a Kia SKT250MS and we love it, but Kia only offers 2.5" max. bar capacity on the sub.

I am wondering if anyone out there is using such a machine as we are looking for.

    thanks

    Mud Racer,

Mind sharing a little more info about the application? I'm curious about the need for the 3" bar cap on the sub side.

We make pins. Mostly O.D. Shaft work. I make one in my Kia that is 2.5"O.D. and 36." long solid chrome shaft. Lots of Keyway, Lots of drilled and tapped holes. Snap ring groves, Cross holes drilled in X axis.

Ranging from .750 O.D. to 2.5" O.D. work. But we have some that are 3."
diameter hence the need for 3." capacity on the sub.

    thanks
