Problem in trasmission of data to Fanuc 6m-b

Hello guys,
I 'm new in forum and i have a serious problem.Today,I tried to connect PC with Cnc,which has a Fanuc 6m-B controller. My program in Pc is the NCnet Lite4.1 of Cadem and I made a program through ProE, which the only thing that do,is to go in home position the tool.
The parameters that I changed, were 340=2,341=2,311=00011000.In setting function,I changed the TVCHECK=0,INPUTDEVICE2=1.Then I select the Tape mode, press the button"Start" and through the program I send the data.Well, these were all my moves and i didn't see anything move.Must I see something in monitor?Must i change something in DNC program or in controller ?
The RS-232 of my Pc is on adaptor of USB.Can the effect of the use of this adaptor be big?
My cable is 9 pin)1,4,6 jumper and 7,8jumper
(25pin)8,20,6 jumper and 4,5 jumper
the connection is between 2 to 2
3 to 3 and 5 to 7.
I would be very grateful of any help.
Thank you,giorgis

Giorgis:

When you press Cycle Start, I would guess that your Fanuc control is trying to read from the paper tape reader. You can confirm this by watching the tape reader carefully while a friend presses Cycle Start. If you hear a "click" when you press Cycle start, and another "click" when you press RESET, the control is trying to read a paper tape (not read through the serial port).

You may need a BTR (Behind the Tape Reader) interface to run programs in TAPE mode on this control. We sell a BTR connection that lets you run long programs through a parallel BTR port connection on the Fanuc 6 control. This BTR connection includes a special cable that goes from the PC's parallel printer port (LPT1) to the Fanuc 6 mother board. We disconnect the tape reader's ribbon cable from the mother board and connect our special BTR cable in it's place. The control reads data from the PC's parallel port and it "thinks" it's getting data from a paper tape reader.

For more information on this type of BTR interface, contact our distributor, Refresh Your Memory, Inc, (www.rym.com). Look for the link titled "Tape Reader Conversions".

Hi,
I have got 6M controller. Are there settings of puncher interface, like 10T has? If there are, can I connect my PC via do-it-myself cable, if set ISO code, parity bits etc. prior to?
Best regards

Guhl:

The tape reader mode in 6 controls doesn't need settings, they comunicate using a BTR by the parallel port of your PC, this is used for DNC comunications(drip feed). Now, if you want to send programs direct to the memory, then you have to connect trough the serial port (RS-232) and then you'll have to set parameters in machine and PC. I can give you the cable configutation and parameters if you need.

Hello,
Could you send that info to me also. Will it be the same for a 10t control. I have both 6 and 10 that I want to use a pc with.
Thanks,
Keith

metx:

Don't worry about the email, this is what I sent for fanuc 6.

One by one, the answer to your questions:
-Cable confuguration to comunicate you NC with PC is:

DB9(PC) DB25(NC)
2------------------------------2
3------------------------------3
5------------------------------7

1-I I-4
6-I I-5
4-I
I-6
7-I I-8
8-I I-20

With this configuration you don't need to change anything.

-Parameters, you must set:
Parameters: 340 and 341 to 2 (I/O device)
Parameter: 311=10011001 or 00011001 (This will give 2 stop bits and 4800 bauds)

-For direct execution you need a BTR (behind tape reader), you can't do thay by serial port in that contol. By serial port you just can upload programs to the NC memory and download programs from the NC memory to the PC hard disk.

-In the PC you must configure the settings as follows: Baud rate=4800, stop bits=2, data bits=7, parity=even. If not,the computer and the NC won't communicate.

Good luck.

GP.
