I was asked by the production supervisor if there was any way I could add a spindle orientation to a cutting program. I thought no problem added a m41 and a m42 told him to try it and nothing happened. Does anyone know what parameters need to be changed to activate the spindle orientation on the O-i controllers. The MTB manual (Takamaz) lists these m-codes as an option and I was told by thier tech that it wasn't activated and I would need to call Fanuc ($1000 min charge to activate) Thanks Rich |

| That doesn't sound right to me. Usually, M19 is the spindle orient command, not M41 or M42. Those M-codes are usually used for manual gear changes if you have a transmission. Besides, if your spindle drive has the ability to orient (and it would if it has to orient for a tool change), then it can't be an option. M-codes are not Fanuc options anyway. |

| The ability to orient the spinel may very well be an option. It isn't apparent by your post (unless I missed soemthing) whether the machine is a lathe or mill. If it is a lathe (which is mostly what I recall seeing from Takamaz), the chances that it is an option are greater than if it is a mill.

| Paul I forgot to say that it is a lathe. The big question is does anybody know what parameters need to be changed to activate the codes when used? Dan On a Takamaz lathe M19 is a 2nd coolant pump off code, unfortunately there are several M and G codes that are an option on these lathes. I tried to write a program a few months ago using a G73 and it would instantly go into a alarm because it was an option that wasn't activated when it was purchased |
