What does BG820 DR OFF (1) mean? Happend during sub-spindle sub-program executing on Tsugami NU4Y. And G functions not being executed.

| Are you trying to use the serial port with a POPEN or DPRNT statement in your program? If so, then "DR off" is being caused by the fact that there is nothing plugged in to the serial port. Normally, the serial cable to another serial device has jumpers between pin 6 (Data Ready, or "DR") and pin 20 (Data Terminal Ready, or DTR). Another jumper is usually wired between pin 8 (Data Carrier Detect, or "CD) and pin 20 (DTR). Get a 25-pin male connector and put jumpers between pins 6, 8, and 20. Then, also apply a jumper between pins 4 and 5. Plug it into the Fanuc's serial port, and that will "dummy" out any serial output so no alarms will occur. You might also search your programs for any serial output commands, like POPEN, DPRNT and PCLOS. Somebody might have added commands to output to a printer or PC. |

| Thank you very much. I have looked into this problem. I have entered "9" "into background output device" and into "foreground output device". In MTB manual was mention of the output device and punch code only. They have forgotten about foreground device ). BTW, what is difference between "foreground" and "background" devices? I know the meaning of these things in computer technics, but can not understand this with reference to CNC. Best regards.
