Can anyone out there help me on this one? I have a Fanuc OT controlling a Yang ML-5 lathe. We had various memory related messages and then after following the flow chart in the manual we had to re-enter all the parameters. Did this, but noticed that the memory was way down on what it had been, and one program we had just run would no longer fit into the CNC. I know Fanuc used to do floppy drives to expand the memory, and I think some sort of card (the machine is 10 yrs old), but wonder whether there are any more up to date (and cheaper) memory upgrades available without going to Fanuc for a new board? HELP PLEASE! Al |

| Your problem is in the options located at parameters 900's. I think that what you did is that you loaded the parameters from the data sheet and sometimes they do no correspond with what the factory (YAM) usually load. Send me the 900's par. contents and I will see if the memory can be upgraded using parameters. GP. |

| Check the 901 bits, usually the 0 was often supplied with 80m, to increase by parameter above that usually requires extra HW. 80m is bit #2. #3 is 40m #4 is 20m. Al.

| Your 901 para. show no memory allocation. You can start at #4 (xxxx1xxxx) and progress through to bit 2. You could also try #1 if you get to bit #2 and it still seems short. Only one on at a time. If you do not have the HW on board, you will get an error message. Al.

| As Al explains, that is the way to do it. If your machine had this memory before, I am sure you will get the memory as before doing this. I will suggest that you do a backup of parameters including 900's for future requierements. GP. |
