    Hi
I have 6M on my Milling.
This alarm happen when you tranfer data to machine?
I think Error 086 is cable error.
Are your cable use to tranfer the data to Machine before?
    Check cable first.
buad rate 4800 will be OK

    Good day.
Manual says: "The signal level of 232C interface was incorrect". Did You check the voltage level of input or output data? Levels are: 1=-3--..-10V, 0=+3..+10V.

Alarm 086 happens when either pin #6 or pin #8 on the Fanuc's serial plug is not held "high". Usually, this is solved by jumpering pins 6, 8, and 20 together on the Fanuc side of your cable. An alternate method is to tie pins 6 and 8 on the Fanuc side with the DTR (ready) signal on the other end of the cable. DTR is pin 20 on a 25-pin plug, or pin 4 on a 9-pin plug. This cable works for all Fanucs:

25-pin Fanuc side -------------9-pin PC side
    pin 2 -------------------------- pin 2
    pin 3 -------------------------- pin 3
    pin 5 -------------------------- pin 7
    pin 7 -------------------------- pin 5
    pin 6 -----
    pin 8 ----- <-- jumper these 3 together
    pin 20 ----

    Another cable configuration is:

25-pin Fanuc side -------------9-pin PC side
    pin 2 -------------------------- pin 2
    pin 3 -------------------------- pin 3
    pin 5 -------------------------- pin 7
    pin 7 -------------------------- pin 5
    pins 6 and 8 ------------------- pin 4

I am also having problems with an 086 P/S alarm on a Fanuc OT machine. How do you cross the pins and jumper the others? Is there a software solution in the computer or do I have to physically wire between the plugs. I am using a DB25 plug at the machine with a USB port on the computer.

You have to possess the USB/RS232 converter to connect the machine and computer. Usually the COM port on the computer is been utilizing for this purpose. It is easier, to my mind.
