I have recently bought myself a beaver NC5 millingmachine, and I'm going to fit it with a servo system, I was thinking about using some fanuc from ebay that I have found... Can anyone tell me about the good sides and the bad sides of this... Input on what size servos I should be using... I have seen AC servoes for as little as 100 dollars a pop... That's kind of cheap... But pls. feel free to come with input and perhaps even guidance to this... |

| Depending on how much exposure to Fanuc you have had, it can be a very long road. You need knowledge of what card components you will need and that work together to form the basis of the system you have chosen. This includes compatible motor/drives/encoders, All necessary cables and connectors. Then comes the fun part, you will need to write the PMC or machine interface, or at least be able to modify an existing one to suit your machine, this will require, not only a knowledge of Fanuc PMC logic, but the programing software and hardware. You will require more than the standard issue manuals, such as BMI, PMC, and Connection & Connecting Manuals. Of the professional systems that I have used, I prefer either Mitsubishi or Fagor, just because of the support and lower cost of software etc, and ease of integration. Al.
