Red face Yam With a O-T controler

Need some ideas,
Started with bearings going out of spindle.
Replaced bearings but while waiting for them to arrive, P Maintenance time!
Removed trainsmision and ovehauled. Went over most of machine and
when bearings arrived put it all back together.
Looked real good but while on lunch (left it powered up) operator moved Z
axis and riped wire of encoder.
Redid wire and got everything going nice. Went to setup and find that spindle is running 3X faster than requested. Checked gear box and shifter is correct and machine sees the gear its in. It has a seperate encoder on spindle.
I need some ideas as to what to check as I am going way to deep I think.
Machine does not alarm just scary seeing a 12 "chuck try to go 12000 rpm.
Thanks for the help

Parameter of the machines are correct
Pl. check the following things
Gear Shift is which type 1. auto Mode with M code, 2. Manual Mode
If it is Auto mode check the Gear Shift by M code
Check the position of Gear shift
Check the feed Back signal if available & Correct.
I dont know the construction of your Machine, May be the following errors are Possible
Since you have Dismantled the Spindle
Gear shifting Solenoid Connector may be changed,
Gear Shifting Hoses May be Changed if external
Position feed back ( Proximity or Limit swithes ) mis placed

Pl. check the speed in both the Gears it will give you some Idea.
If every thing in Hardware area, we have to check the parameters in Machine
as well as in Drive if it is Digital.

Sounds like that fix you did on the spindle encoder cable is not complete. The spindle drive may be looking at the spindle encoder as a speed feedback device, so the spindle motor just tries to get the encoder to run at the commanded speed. If one or more if the spindle encoder wires are broke, the speed feedback may be off by a factor of 2 or 3 (depending on the wires broken).

Double-check that repaired cable and be sure that the wires are not broken, there is nothing shorting one wire to another, and that the wires are connected to the correct pins on the encoder. Broken cables are sometimes tough to repair completely because pulling on cable can break wires inside a section of the cable that looks OK.

Thanks guys,
Redid the wires and no change. Waited for everyone to go home and sat down with the parameter sheets and went through them one line at a time.
Found the one that was changed.
Now my question is how do set parameters change when everone swears no one changed them?
Can they change when the encoder cable ripped out?
Do not remember the parameter number but it was related to dc code read or ignore.
Thanks again I am running Next.......
