    Default Fanuc om I/O fault

i recently got my hitachi VK45 running DNC using Xon Xoff software hand shake. now the machine will not send to the computer. i bought a mini tester and plugged it in the parallel port on the machine to check if there's any flow of information. i can see the computer sending to the machine but no sign of a signal returning. i can send files from the computer to the machine but i cannot send them back. the light on the mini tester should flicker if there was a signal being sent. no error codes have come up. there was a power outage around the time of the problem first starting so it is possible something has fried.or a parameter has been changed. not sure what to check next.

Could be the RS232 IC driver defective?
Are you using 3 wire cable? With hardware handshake jumpered.

yes. the cable is set for software handshake only. would it work to switch to hardware handshake?

Yes you will need the RS232, in a pinch you can always transcribe them by hand, but tedious.
    Also don't forget the 900 para's.
There are a pair of IC.s that handle the RS232 TX & RX, I can't recall the #s right now, but often one or the other fails.

This might be a stupid idea so feel free to ignore it. From what I’ve read you can manually input the parameters from the display so first thing I did when I got my machine was to take a picture of all the parameter screens just to have them stored. Took me 2minutes with a smartphone. Could be a temp solution of a backup until you figure out the problem you are asking for. It’s slow programming it manually but it’s way better than having nothing if they get deleted somehow.
