couple times faulty position module PT01A was the reason
Hello, not sure if anyone can help. We have a Hitachi Seiki HT20 with Fanuc 10TE-F control.
There's no life at all on the screen. When we press the power-on button the main contactor comes on but the screen doesn't light. Around the back, the main CPU board shows an 'F'. All lights are green in the cnc cabinet, I've measured the psu test pins on the cpu and they're all spot on.
A quick google brings up the usual resellers of pcbs that will 'cure' an 'F' fault...
The machine has been idle for a few months but came on ok and did half a day's work before it turned itself off.

Hello
check these items
Connection failure of connection unit or I/O cards D1 ~ D3.
Check the optical fiber cable connection of these units and connectors.
Replace master PCB, connection unit, I/O cards D1~D3, or optical fiber cable.
These are standard issues for an F alarm on a 10T

Optical Interface ( I/O ~ Master PCB ).IF01A PCB plugged into wrong slot in I/O rack.
Failed I/O module in I/O base unit.
Thanks folks. We have the service manual but no spare boards to swap. We tried the optical cables, no luck. The boss has decided to send the lathe for scrap rather than spend any more money on it; it had to have a new VDU last year so it's a case of drawing a line under its little expenses!
Are you going to salvage any parts from it?
I would be interested in a couple cards.
Before scrapping the machine we had an engineer take a quick look and swapping the power supply card in the spindle-drive cabinet cleared the fault. So all working now with a service exchange card
