    Default AL 12

    Hi guys

Got a fanuc A06B-6077-H111 power supply and a A06B-6078-H211#H500 spindle amp.

Had an alarm 5 on power supply and alarm on the spindle drive.( can not recall number)

Both units was send for repairs.

When switching on now , the spindle gives al12 before the control has start up with the spindle motor disconnected.

The IGBTs have been replaced as well.( the old ones still tested fine)

Units was send 3x now and the fault still remains.

The repairer can not test as they do not have a complete test rigg. They can however get the power supply ready.
    Anybody that can assist please?

i had this alarm on a lathe too,was tripped veore the cnc gets on,during boot.
In my machine i had 2 big actuators for spindle, one called low winding and one called high windind.
Every actuator had an auxiliary contact on the side with a 24v circuit and because i had a short on the 24v circuit that contact did not send the info to spindle driver that the actuator was on and after some seconds the driver gets AL 12.
So go on this lead and check the auxiliary contacts from spindle power.

remove IGBTs from the drive and turn it on. I recall IGBT modules are screwed to PCB. report the result.

    Thanks for your reply.
This is a small Spindle and does not have the high and low circuit winding.
The motor connects direct to the servo drive.
Get the alarm while booting up before the system is ready

    HI Guhl
    Thanx for your reply.
Before i do this , i have to ask.
These are Alpha series drive and the IGBTs got the pins on the side that pushes into the pc board.
Will it not give a different error?

    unlikely
Are there IGBT driver circuits made in the form of a separate PCB?

No. IGBT separate and bolt on to base board with circuit.AL 12-20170807_062942-1-jpgAL 12-20170807_062948-1-jpg

IGBT got pins that connect to base board.

Will remove IGBT and see status. Will keep u posted

IF YOUR IGBT IS SHORTED , YOU NEED TO REPLACE THEM.
DO YOU HAVE ALPHA SERIES SPINDLE DRIVE?

THE OLDER AC SPINDLE DRIVE HAD FUSES THAT BLOWS WHEN THE IGBT BLOWS.
THESE USELESS FUSES PROTECTS NOTHING TO MY KNOWLEDGE , BUT IF THEY ARE BLOWN THE PC BOARD NEEDS REPAIRING ASWELL OR IT WILL BLOW THE IGBT ON SWITCH ON.
