Looks like the graphics driver or maybe the graphics memory bus. But it could still be the display unit.

    Cheers

Hi Roger , Thanks , when I look at the monitor sometimes the characters change like a refresh or a digital process and sometimes they are OK as the monitor is just composite video i dont think its the monitor , i am leaning towards your suggestions of graphics driver or memory , do know where i can look for the graphics pcb of the fanuc om

    regards peter

Computers I know; Fanuc I do not know.
    Sorry. Ring Fanuc?

You could try to find a display which takes composite video. It would be an old one though.
    Which city are you in?

    Cheers

Hum ... looking more closely at the results, I am suspecting the addressing part of the graphics memory. I suspect one of the address lines is failing.

    Cheers

What version of the OM is it? (the number on the main board) Are you using the on board graphics or a separate card? Of the graphics on the mainboard is failing maybe you could just buy a used card? It doesn't look like a CRT problem

This is definitely a video adapter problem, the monitor itself looks fine. Without knowing any specifics about Fanucs, my guesses would be:
    - A stuck bit in the video RAM.
    - A timing problem in the RAMDAC (or whatever you call a RAMDAC equivalent for a monochrome display adapter).
