is it possible to use a fanuc 180is controller with servos salvaged off a dismantled injection moulder as general-purpose CNC to retrofit a milling machine? can it have some non-user changeable specifics limiting its use only to a particular roboshot machine?
the controller is a stand alone unit, p/n a02b-0283-b801
thanks!
Re: fanuc 180is controller - what is it capable of?
What is your 180is? On the back of the monitor it should say 180is M or T, If it says M then you can easily put it on the Mill. However, you will have to modify the ladder in the controller to accommodate the I/O on the mill as it won't be anything close to what the injection molding machine had.

"i suppose i have to contact fanuc about the software" They probably won/t help you; shoot me a pm.
There are displays on Ebay for stand alone controls.
