Is there a fast and easy way to punch all the programs that are stored in a machine? We are considering updating to a networked DNC system and would need to back up every program saved on the machines. Problem is, their memory is all full and would be very cumbersome to do individually.
Depending on the model # of the control. Most older Fanuc's will punch out all of the programs with O-9999 [PUNCH]. The downside to this is that all of the programs are saved as one file on the PC. Some DNC systems (Predator for one) will split the programs into individual files as they are received at the PC. If your DNC system won't do this, you can always cut/copy/past each program into individual files.
Be aware that PROTECTED programs are NOT punched out; they will have to be unprotected first. There are several levels of protection, depending on the control model.
O8xxx program #s. O9xxx program #s, password protected program #s and maybe more.
From the Remote Request help. There is a checkbox to enable this:
Support multiple files
This option will automatically save multiple filenames when the entire memory of a CNC is punched. For example, a Fanuc CNC will dump all of the programs in memory if O9999 is specified as a program number during the punch process. If this option is checked then Predator will automatically save each O number as a separate file.
