    3T model F rs232 problems

    Hi all,
I am having sending programs to my controller from my PC. I can send from
the controller to PC fine. I have tried different settings, different cable configs
and different programs. Anybody have any ideas? I don't get any errors it just
sits and flashes LSK and never stops.
    Thanx,
    Jerry

If you have the FAPT option on this control, then when read the program into the Fanuc 3T, it will either read from the FAPT board or from the external serial port. Look for a button that switches back & forth between the "NC" and "FAPT". Make sure that you're in "NC" mode.

If that's not it, look at parameter 005, bit #2 (the 3rd bit from the right). It should be a "0" for RS232.

    Dan,
The controller does have fapt on it and I am in NC mode. The computer communicates with my mill fine DNC or just straight loading. The parameters are set up correctly on both ends. The cable is made from the threads that you have written. I have tried jumpers in addition to no avail. Could the port it self be bad in the machine? It does not make sense that it would still send to me. And my DNC software does send the program so it is not waiting for a signal. I am using DNC4U for communication software and have never had a problem with it.

    Fanuc 3

    Jerry,

The Fanuc 3 will commuicate from a PC, but there are several parameters that need to be set for reading / inputting data.

If memory serves me right, 0068 and 0069 is the parameter for baud rate at 4800 baud.

A good test is to disconnect the cable, attempt to punch out a file. You should get an alarm. With the cable still disconnected, then attempt to read a file into the machine. You should get an alarm.

If you see LSK or input, then the machine is not setup to read in through the correct device / port.

Also, if you miss set the baud rates while trying to read into the control while sending from the PC, you better see an alarm.

Feel free to call me if you need more help. I have some information on parameters, wiring and procedure in my office.
