Tool offset ...

On a Fanuc 0TD, when I put the offset active
on a tool in MDI, ex.: T0101, and cycle start,
the tool move in X and Z, is there a way to
prevent that ?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that it only moves to correct for G41/G42 and offset. Keeping it < .2mm should be easy, but preventing it - I dont know.
Sry I couldnt give you a clear answer.

Its been a year since I wrote programs all day long, but with G40 and 0,0 offset, I can't really see why it would move with a T0101 command.
Am I helping at all ?

Well, my offset are not zero, let's say X:2.22 Z: .273 for
tool #1, and that's the movement the machine will do after a T0101.
Thanks

There you have it. You just zero the X, and add the 2,22 in the geometry !
No problem

The tool shouldnt move, the x and z postition should just change on your screen. There might be som parameters that have to be changed to kkep the tool not moving.

M-man, I recall it doing it in MDI mode, but then in cycle ofcourse they "just change on screen". But does it really matter ?

FarmerDK, actually the 2.22 is in the geometry of the tool!

Like M-man said, the postition should just change on the screen.

Any clue for the parameter ?

In any Fanuc Lathe Control when you call T0101 you are calling Tool #1 and Offset #1. If you don't want the turret to move when calling Tool#1 simply Call T01 with no offset. You will get just a tool change.

Do this in MDI Mode

I hope this is what you want. Also don't try to cut anything with no tool offset because you could wind up with an expensive mess.

Tool #1 can also be called like this : T101 = Tool #1 and offset #01

I've worked with 2 Fanuc control in the past and
when I was entering in MDI : T0101, the tool didn't move,
only the number on the screen.

I need to call the offset to check my set-up, but don't
want the tool to move.

Thanks

Usually there is a parameter to change this, but I don't know what it is off the top of my head. It gives you the option to move the tool to the compensated position, or move the compensated coordinate system to the current tool position. It should be in the parameter manual if you have it.

regards, Oz
