    Sl-3h mori w/ Fanuc 11t [alarm]

Starting a job tonite, ran some testing and left the machine on for a while to pick up some tooling, come back and set tools, start to run a pgm and I get an alarm.

OT 112 "Current Excess (DC LINK)-a Current flows excessivley to the DC link of velocitycontrol unit of spindle motor.

Any input on this condition and its cause is appreciated.
    Bill

Thru discussions this morning, we concluded my input voltage (246vac)
needs to be stepped down. A Mori/ Fanuc guru I met today (he's from Japan)
did ensure these machines like a soft and comfy 200 volts, not the robust honk'n juice I have up here in the backwoods.

If you get a 12 alarm on the actual Spindle drive seven-segment display, the damage may already have been done.
It usually means the IGBT transistors have blown.
±10% is the max usually recommended by Fanuc (220v)

    Al,
The spindle drive still has the green light, only got the alarm on the crt. With any luck I'll be ok. Butt [always a biggie] where is the item you mentioned located?
We are getting buck bost x-formers that will give us a 32vac drop on line, [should have them tomorrow]
    Thakn you

Some Fanuc spindle drives of this vintage had a segement display about 1" high on the front circuit board.
